Ashleigh Daniels
"Ashleigh Daniels was born two months prematurely on the 2nd November 1998. She was a lovely and lively baby; however at 9 months the Clinic sister detected that her right eye was defective and referred us to Red Cross Hospital. At the hospital we were told that Ashleigh was blind in her right eye and there was nothing the doctors could do for her.
Ashleigh grew to be a very bright and enthusiastic girl; however she seemed almost ashamed of her eye. She was constantly being ridiculed and ostracized by her peers and even her siblings at times because of her 'blind eye'.
The news from her uncle that there was hope for Ashleigh can only be regarded as a blessing. We visited Vida and were truly amazed at the advancement of medical technology in just a few years. Ashleigh has now regained her confidence and now glances at the mirror to catch a glimpse of the pretty girl staring back at her, with the world at her feet. Just a few months ago she would stare at her reflection endlessly praying that her eye could be 'normal'.
We would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Vida Trupelmann and Dr Danie Van Der Linde for the sterling job, and for restoring our Ashleigh's confidence!!!
Thank You.
The Daniels Family."
